Let our guests catch their breaths and help them to escape the daily issues. We do this by offering them a sophisticated palet of attractions, shows, play equipment, delicious food and drink, beautiful nature, detailed themes and particularly...with the help of our secret weapon: our staff!
The true magic of Toverland is the enthusiasm and ownership of our staff. They create those magical experiences of happiness by truly seeing our guests, immerse them in hospitality and exceed their expectations.
Theme park Toverland's magic started with a proper Dutch rain shower. Founder Jean Gelissen was walking with his family in a recreation park. When it suddenly started to rain, most of the visitors headed for the exit. He realized how weather-dependent traditional parks are. It turned out to be a gap in the market. Gelissen, also the owner of construction company Gepla (Gelissen Ceilings), presented his idea to his sister Caroline Kortooms, who at the time worked as a junior school teacher.
Filled with enthusiasm they took a leap of faith. By visiting various parks and listening to the wishes of future guests, their dream gradually took shape. The park had to have its own unique identity, something that really played on the imagination. The main theme became 'Magic' because after all, the power of magic is timeless and universal. Their passion, the belief in Toverland and their perseverance ensured that their dream came true.
It was on 19 May 2001 that the gates of a magical world called: Theme park Toverland, opened for the very first time. There were so many guests that got enchated in this first year, that very soon plans were made for a second indoor theme area.

This spectacular rollercoaster with the name Troy really puts the theme park on the map and also starts to attract more guests from further afield. With its 90 km per hour and a track of more than a kilometre is Troy the number 1 of many rollercoaster fan. In 2010, the theme area of Greek mythology receives a further expansion around Troy with swing boat Scorpios and Paarden van Ithaka (Horses of Ithaka), where our youngest guests can enjoy a horse ride.

Magische Vallei consists of eight new attractions, including the rotating rollercoaster Dwervelwind and Djengu River, a 450 metres-long crazy river ride. Visitors respond enthusiastically to the enchantment of Magische Vallei. Toverland also has the pleasure to receive more international rewards for this new park segment, with as jewel in the crown, the Zoover audience award for ‘Best theme park of the Netherlands’.
